Katie Redmon

2013-2014

Katie Redmon graduated from the City University of New York School of Law (CUNY) in May 2013. CUNY is a public interest law school whose mission is “law in the service of human needs.” Katie earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Barnard College in 2006.

As a 2013-2014 Borchard Fellow, Katie will partner with JASA/Legal Services for the Elderly in Queens, New York. Together they will implement a courthouse project that provides free legal representation to elderly pro se tenants in Queens Housing Court. The goal of the project is to achieve long-term housing stabilization through the interdisciplinary use of legal representation and social services, allowing more elderly tenants to “age in place” at home. Katie will represent tenants identified by judges as potentially in need of social services. Katie’s full-time presence in the courthouse will allow her to work intimately with judges and court personnel to intervene in cases where at-risk elderly tenants are navigating eviction proceedings unaided.
