Ilene Stein will spend her Borchard fellowship year working in Washington, D.C., with the Medicare Rights Center, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping older adults and people with disabilities access affordable health care. Specifically, she will focus her efforts on two areas: direct client services and policy analysis and reform. As part of the client services team, Ilene Stein will help people with Medicare navigate the health coverage maze and access benefits to which they are entitled. The direct client services work will allow her to analyze current and proposed legislation and regulations that affect people with Medicare from the consumer’s perspective. She will meet with policymakers to educate them about the practical effects of Medicare policies.
