Former Borchard Fellow Authors Oklahoma Guide

Catheryn Koss, the Borchard Fellows Coordinator and a 2007-2008 fellow, has written the Oklahoma Legal Guide to Long-Term Care: What Every Oklahoman Needs to Know About Paying For & Receiving Long-Term Care at Home, in Assisted Living, or in a Nursing Home.

The guide is published by the Senior Law Resource Center and can be purchased online by visiting Legal Guide to Long-Term Care. All proceeds go to the Senior Law Resource Center.

Borchard Fellow Publishes Handbook in Illinois

Jordan Sartell, a 2012-13 Borchard Fellow working as a staff attorney with Prairie Legal Services in Illinois, has published Illinois Property Agent's Handbook: Do's, Don'ts, and Tips for Those Serving Under a Power of Attorney for Property. 

Jordan's publication, which he completed as part of his fellowship, is available online through Illinois Legal Aid Online

Borchard Fellows Coordinator Announced

The Borchard Foundation Center on Law & Aging is pleased to announce Catheryn Koss has joined the Center as the Borchard Fellows Coordinator. In this newly-created position, Catheryn will coordinate the Center’s efforts to maintain relationships with current and former fellows as well as provide ongoing post-fellowship support. As a 2007-2008 Borchard Fellow, Catheryn founded the non-profit Senior Law Resource Center, an organization that provides legal information and services to Oklahoma elders and caregivers. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Gerontology at the University of Kansas, Lawrence.

Former fellow, Rebecca Vallas, was selected to be a member of the National Association of Social Insurance (NASI) in January, 2013. NASI announced the acceptance of 72 distinguished new members, bringing the total active membership to over 1,000. 

Academy members are recognized experts in Social Security and retirement security, Medicare and health coverage, workers’ compensation, private employee benefits, unemployment insurance, and related social assistance programs. Individuals selected for membership have distinguished themselves by improving the quality of research, administration, or policymaking in one or more of these areas.

NASI is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization made up of the nation’s leading experts on social insurance. Its mission is to advance solutions to challenges facing the nation by increasing public understanding of how social insurance contributes to economic security.
